About this 50 Minute Sound Bath:

As I explored the autumnal theme an image of snake shedding its skin kept appearing in my mind. When a snake sheds its skin, all of its scales become opaque, including the scales that covers its eyes, rendering it momentarily blind. The snake is at its most vulnerable moment as it grows and has to wait patiently for the new skin to be revealed. This felt synonymous to our collective experience, we are vulnerable, blind, and in a moment of deep uncertainty but are also growing, changing, and evolving.

Sonically this theme was explored through three distinct gongs: the wound healer, Chiron, Uranus the awakener, and the blustery 36" Wind gong. These instruments generate powerful fundamental and harmonic frequencies and offer a wide range of meditative tones. For this Signature Sound Bath, my intention when playing was to explore the theme of shedding what is no longer essential, just as deciduous trees release their leaves in time for winter or a snake sheds its old skin.
