BENEFITS OF CONSISTENT SOUND MEDITATION
- Boosts your immune system by reducing pro-inflammatory gene expression
- Calm your body's stress cycle.
- Boost your natural opiates.
- Regulate and restore your nervous system.
- Connect with a deep sense of inner peace and well-being.
- Enjoy an internal journey that is visionary and expansive.
- Experience a blissful trance-like state equivalent to a good night's sleep.
SOUND & THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
Sound reduces the stress response and activates the “rest and digest” Parasympathetic Nervous System through deep relaxation and deep breathing, which reduces heart rate, improves digestion and immunity systems, creates healthier sleep cycles, increases overall health and wellbeing.
When stress is managed and the body systems are healthy and in-balance, people feel more energized, happier, patient and productive. Problems can be seen in a different light, better decisions are made, and performance is maximized.
BRAINWAVE STATES AND ENTRAINMENT
Sound can also activate the theta brainwave state which is a state of deep meditation. This coveted brainwave state is easily accessible and provides all the benefits of meditation: creative problem solving, enhanced emotional intelligence, identifying mental ruts and bad habits, increasing confidence, self-awareness and self-connection.
Finally, sound can assist with the Delta brainwave state which is a state of deep sleep with a lowered heart rate, respiratory rate, and metabolic rate. In this state, one hour of sound can be the equivalent of a full night's sleep.
EXPERTS
Feeling a little skeptical about the benefits? See what the experts are saying about meditation:
"With recent neuroscientific findings, meditation as a practice has been shown to literally rewire brain circuits that boost both mind and body health. These benefits of meditation have surfaced alongside the revelation that the brain can be deeply transformed through experience – a quality known as “neuroplasticity.” —Headspace, Forbes Magazine
"A review of 400 published scientific articles on music as medicine found strong evidence that music has mental and physical health benefits in improving mood and reducing stress. In fact, rhythm in particular (over melody) can provide physical pain relief. One study published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine found that an hourlong sound meditation helped people reduce tension, anger, fatigue, anxiety, and depression while increasing a sense of spiritual well-being... Sound works through the vibrational tactile effects on the whole body..and can stimulate touch fibers that affect pain perception. One study of people with fibromyalgia found that ten treatments (twice per week for five weeks) of low-frequency sound stimulation improved sleep and decreased pain, allowing nearly three-fourths of participants to reduce pain medication. Sound-based vibration treatment has been shown to help people with pain from arthritis, menstrual pain, postoperative pain, knee replacement pain and has even been found to improve mobility, reduce muscle pain and stiffness, increase blood circulation, and lower blood pressure." —Psychology Today
"World-renowned neuroscientist Richie Davidson at the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, along with this colleagues, want us to know three things: 1) you can train your brain to change, 2) that the change is measurable, and 3) new ways of thinking can change it for the better. —Richie Davidson, PhD
"Repeat those behaviors that are healthy for your brain and break those behaviors and habits that are not. Practice… and build the brain you want.” —Lara Boyd, PT, PhD
The more we meditate, the more we relax, the more we engage our brain in positive behaviors.
